The results are in. Bob Harper will be replacing Alison Sweeney as host of the hit NBC competition “The Biggest Loser.” The network announced the exciting news on Tuesday, revealing that the show’s longtime trainer would be taking on the new role.

“I’m super excited about taking the position of host on ‘The Biggest Loser,’ ” the 50-year-old fitness enthusiast told People magazine in a statement. “I’ve been with the show since Season 1, so I know all of the ins and outs.”

The personal trainer explained how “The Biggest Loser” would change when he takes the reins as the show’s newest host -- specifically in the daunting weigh-in room.

“Let me tell you, the weigh-in room is going to be a completely different ball game with me at the steering wheel,” he warned.

Harper will make his debut as the series’ newest host when the show returns for Season 17 in 2016. The upcoming installment will begin shooting this month, according to Variety. NBC also confirmed that, in addition to the thrilling changes Harper will make in the weigh-in room, audiences can also expect a “new twist” woven into the format of the reality competition show.

It was unveiled that Sweeney, who served as the show’s host for eight years, would be leaving the series in August.

“After an incredible run together, Alison Sweeney will not be returning as the host of ‘The Biggest Loser’ next season,” NBC said in a statement. The former “Days of Our Lives” actress made her first appearance on the weight-loss series in 2007, replacing the show’s first host Caroline Rhea, who hosted the first three installments of the beloved show.

Although Sweeney won’t be revealing the exciting new weights of contestants from now on, fans can still see the 38-year-old star on the small screen when she appears in the Hallmark TV movie “Love on the Air,” Entertainment Weekly reports. The original Hallmark movie, on which Sweeney acted as executive producer, is set to premiere on Sept. 26.

“The Biggest Loser” will return for Season 17 in 2016.
