Tyra Banks is still drying her tears from Nyle DiMarco’s emotional, Week 5 performance on “Dancing With the Stars” — and we don’t blame her!

On Monday, the former host of “America’s Next Top Model” sat in the audience as she watched the Season 22 contestant perform a Viennese waltz with his Switch-Up partner Sharna Burgess. Nyle’s routine, soundtracked to Ruelle’s “I Get to Love You,” brought tears to the supermodel’s eyes as she watched the pair gracefully glide around the ballroom.

So what did Nyle have to say about his mentor’s teary response to his performance, which earned the first 10 of the competition?

“Well, I was so honored,” Nyle told E! News, revealing that Tyra’s tears showed the depth of their relationship. “She saw me last year as an amateur and didn’t know how everything actually works. I think now she can come and work and see how much I’ve grown in just a year.”

Nyle added that Tyra is “kind of like a mother figure” to him, explaining that the two have a “deep connection.” “To see her crying I think it was that understanding of what we have,” he said.

But Tyra wasn’t the only one left in tears from Nyle’s magnificent number. Both Peta Murgatroyd, Nyle’s Season 22 partner, and judge Carrie Anna Inaba were caught wiping tears from their cheeks after the elegant performance.

“You take my breath away and I’m not alone I can tell,” she told Nyle, who was also feeling quite emotional from the routine.

“Tonight me as a Deaf person proved that I can work with anybody and anybody can work with me! It only takes patient and respect,” he wrote on Twitter.

Viewers can catch Nyle DiMarco on Season 22 of “Dancing With the Stars” Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
