"Shameless" Season 6 Spoilers
Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy) will teach Debbie (Emma Kenney) how to work the welfare system in Season 6, episode 3 of "Shameless." Showtime

You know you’re in trouble when you start looking to Frank (William H. Macy) for support. And that’s exactly what Debbie (Emma Kenney) will do when “Shameless” airs episode 3, titled “Ghost Your Baby,” on Sunday.

According to the synopsis of the Season 6 installment, Frank will show his pregnant daughter how to make a couple bucks off her baby by giving her tips on how to “work the welfare system to her advantage.”

“Welfare is not as simple as the name makes it sound,” Frank tells Deb in a promo video. “It requires careful calculations, proper paperwork and a little bit of luck.”

That “luck” Frank is referring to is if the child is born a twin, which earns parents an extra $150 from the government, or with a deformity.

“If the baby has a clubfoot or a harelip that’s worth an extra $100. So you might want to lighten up on the prenatal vitamins,” Macy’s character gives us one of his most atrocious lines to date.

“I’m taking all my vitamins,” Debbie barks back.

But while Debbie is excited to become a mother, Fiona (Emmy Rossum), who fans learned was expecting a child in episode 2, is not. Perhaps that’s because she’s already raising five sibling-children and isn’t prepared to welcome another member into their already boisterous and chaotic family. Or maybe its because she doesn’t know who the father is …

We initially assumed the father of Fiona’s bundle was Sean (Dermot Mulroney) — after all, he was the one dating Fiona when the season kicked off while Gus (Steve Kazee) no longer seemed to be in Fiona’s life. Or so we thought.

In a sneak-peek video for episode 3, viewers see Fiona track down her former husband during one of his gigs.

“Got an invite on Facebook,” she attempts to justify her presence.

“Yeah, I guess you’re still on the mailing list,” Gus replies before stating that he wants Fiona to stick around. “I wrote a song for you.” (We can all safely assume that Gus wrote a bitter break-up song, right? At least we hope he did.)

So why is Fiona paying her ex a visit? Well, it might have something to do with that growing baby in her belly.

Why do you think Fiona decided to visit Gus? Sound off in the comments section below with your theories and don’t forget to tune in to Season 6, episode 3 of “Shameless” on Sunday, Jan. 24, at 9 p.m. EST on Showtime.
