Queen Silvia, her 36-year-old son Prince Carl Philip, and his wife Sofia Hellqvist, 30, attended the opening of an exhibition at Stockholm’s Royal Palace Friday. The Swedish royals paid tribute to Princess Lilian, Carl Philips' aunt.

Princess Sofia looked stunning in a slate blue dress, which featured off-the-shoulder look while the hem ran up to her knees. The dress was cinched at the waist with a matching belt.

Sofia wore sheer stockings and nude Saint Laurent pumps paired with her outfit, People reported. Her brunette tresses were tied low into a ponytail with a middle part. She accessorized with a black leather purse.

Her husband, Carl Philip looked dapper in gray suit and trouser combo, which he paired with a blue tie to match his wife and mother’s outfit. Queen Silvia also opted for a blue dress with three-fourth length sleeves. She accessorized with pearl necklace and a brooch.

The exhibit, titled “Clothes of a Princess – the Lilian Look,” celebrates the chic style of the woman, who was hidden from public view for years. The exhibition will be open through Jan. 6, and will include nearly 30 pieces of clothing and accessories spanning three decades, all housed in the Bernadotte Apartments at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.

The items span six categories, including weddings, family celebrations and official duties, while also incorporating many pieces by designer Elizabeth Wondrak. Similar to how British designer Norman Hartnell worked extensively with Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret, the Swedish princess relied heavily on Wondrak.

The Kungahuset or the Royal Palace took to its official Instagram and posted a picture of the exhibits.

“It is sometimes said that the clothes make the woman. But with Princess Lilian it was the opposite. In her case, it was the woman who made the clothes,” said Queen Silvia according to Swedish publication Expressen.

Like Princess Sofia herself, Lilian Davies was a model, who became a princess when she married Sweden’s Prince Bertil in 1976. During the wedding, Lilian was 61, while Prince Bertil was 64. She passed away in 2013 at the age of 97.
