All good things must come to an end, and the same goes for hit MTV show "Jersey Shore." After six seasons of fist pumping, fighting, tanning and smooshing, the cast of the "Jersey Shore" will be saying goodbye to Seaside.

MTV announced on Thursday that the upcoming sixth season of "Jersey Shore," set to premiere on Oct. 4, will be it's last.

To prepare fans for the shows demise, MTV will air numerous farewell programming for the series. The adieu to "Jersey Shore" will begin on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. ET. Titled "Gym, Tan, Look Back," the special will air before the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. Fans will get to look back on some of the most memorable (and totally) wild moments that took place over the past few years.

Besides a recap of the the past three years, the "Gym, Tan, Look Back" special will also feature interviews with the cast and clips from the upcoming sixth season. The cast is also set to appear at the pre-show for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, where they will talk about their final season on the red carpet at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

When season six premieres, fans will also be treated to "bonus programming" each week at 11 p.m. ET.

In the three years the reality series has been on, the gang which includes Pauly D, Vinny, Deena, Snooki, JWoww, the Situation, Ronnie and Sammi Sweetheart, have travelled to Miami and Italy, and worked on two spin off shows, "Snooki & JWoww" and "The Pauly D Project."

Viewers have watched roommates leave and return, Sammi and Ronnie breakup and reunite and the rest of the guys in the house bring back numerous girls to smoosh.

This season of the "Jersey Shore," fans will be following Snooki in her pregnancy journey. Cameras were already on hand last week to capture the birth of baby Lorenzo.

"It's bittersweet that it's over, but I'm excited to see what the future holds," Ronnie told Wetpaint.com. "These past six seasons have been unforgettable...I have an extension of my family now and I'm walking away with the girl of my dreams and some amazing memories."

Season six of "Jersey Shore" premieres on Thursday, Oct. 4 on MTV.
