Gold is the new blood on “The Vampire Diaries.” Viewers of the hit CW show will have to keep their eyes peeled for a special guest appearance in season four...Olympic gymnast and gold medalist Gabby Douglas!

In early August, when Douglas was in the middle of competing in London, the 16-year-old received some support from her favorite television show, “The Vampire Diaries.” Stars of the show Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Michael Trevino and Claire Holt made a video for the Olympian, wishing her luck as she moved forward in the games.

Executive producer of the series Julie Plec even tweeted at the gold medalist, giving the teen a chance to send her thanks and even make a request.

“Love watching #TVDFamily rally for @gabrielledoug,” Plec tweeted. Douglas replied, “@julieplec Awww thank you soo much!!! Btw this is one of my FAVORITE Show[S]! #TheVampireDiaries #Guessappearance? Lol :)”

Turns out Douglas got the guest appearance on “The Vampire Diaries” she was hoping for! On Sept. 18, Dobrev, who plays Elena, a Mystic Falls teen who is transitioning into a vampire this season, tweeted that Douglas would be coming to the set the next day. “Can’t wait to meet and work with you girl!,” Dobrev voiced on Twitter. “Don’t forget to bring your bling :P”

Douglas seemed just as psyched about the visit as Dobrev, replying back on Twitter, “Yess I am! Im so excited to meet you! Haha girl you know I gotcha!!!”

Douglas’ visit to the set was exciting not only the young Olympian, but for the cast as well. “First thought at 530am when I woke up this morning: “What do I wear when meeting an Olympian Gold Medalist?” Dobrev tweeted on Sept. 19.

In between shooting, the cast snapped some pictures with Douglas, and of course her gold medal!

“Eating @gabrielledoug’s gold medal! yummmmm,” Somerhalder, who plays bad boy Damon tweeted.

Judging by the athlete's smile in her phtograph with Somerhalder and Dobrev, her day on “The Vampire Diaries” set was a dream come true.

“Thanks for coming @gabrielledoug,” Dobrev tweeted following their day of shooting. “I hope you had fun - you were great! Smile is even brighter in person... :)”

Douglas even got an invite to return. “@gabrielledoug was such a joy meeting you and your family today!” Candice Accola, who plays vampire Caroline, tweeted. “Keep shining! Come back to Mystic Falls anytime xo.”

Just who the Olympic athlete will be playing in her guest appearance is being kept hush hush, but the Hollywood Reporter confirmed she will not be playing herself.

“The Vampire Diaries” returns to the CW for its fourth season on Oct. 11. Fans can expect to see Gabby Douglas’ Mystic Falls debut in an episode slated to air Nov. 29.
