Dominique Strauss-Kahn is arrested in a foreign country, something that rarely happens to someone in his position in the Western world.

He’s been accused of attempted rape, a serious crime that can potentially carry a stiff, multi-year prison sentence.

News of his arrest is plastered on frontpages all over the world and the details of the allegations aren’t pretty. Allegedly, a naked Strauss-Kahn barged out of his bathroom, threw a hotel maid on the bed, and attempted to force her to perform oral sex.

Strauss-Kahn is one of the most powerful political figures in the world. He’s the head of the IMF and a front-runner for the presidential office of France in 2012. Since his arrest, his presidential aspirations are in serious danger. If the charges stick, he may be stripped of his title as the IMF chief.
