While speaking with Us Weekly, Minnette was asked to share some details about his character, Clay, for Season 2. According to the actor, viewers will have to wait and see whether or not Clay will find love again after Hannah’s suicide. “The show picks up a few months after Season 1 where we left off, and there’s a lot of catch up to play, and I think people might be a little surprised where Clay is. I don’t know if there’s a new love interest, we’ll just have to see. But I think people will also be surprised by where he ends up, because I’m also trying to figure it out myself right now,” he said.

Season 1 ended with Hannah’s parents listening to the tapes she left behind after committing suicide. Clay and Tony (Christian Navarro), meanwhile, drove away from the city in the final scene.

“13 Reasons Why” Season 2 will premiere on Netflix in 2018.
