Michelle Williams opted for a Victoria Beckham frock at the 2012 Oscars Nominee Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton. But did Williams look like a ray of sunshine or a muddled mess?

Michelle Williams, star of My Week with Marilyn and nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role, chose a whimsical cream silk dress printed with blue clouds lined and dripping with silver sequins to resemble rain. The dress featured a Peter Pan collar and came to knee-length. Williams paired it with simple black pumps, clean make-up and a sleek hairdo.

The blonde starlet's dress is from Victoria Beckham's Spring 2012 collection. It looks quite like something that would come from Prada's Miu Miu label, noted The Hollywood Reporter.

Do you think this dress is ultra-cool or too campy?

This is the second time the actress has chosen a Victoria Beckham design during this awards season. The 31-year-old wore Beckham's scalloped black and ivory sheath dress on Jan. 14 to the BAFTA Tea Party at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills.

It is quite notable that Williams picked the beautiful Beckham twice. Just one appearance of a piece on the red carpet during awards season is enough to make a designer swoon.

Michelle Williams is quite the shining star this year. Even though she has been a red carpet-favorite for years, her Marilyn persona seems to truly radiate in 2012.

She dipped her toes even deeper into the fashion pool to shoot the ad campaign for Boy by Band of Outsider's Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Williams can be seen in a series of gauzy, Polaroid-inspired photos frolicking in sunlight-drenched settings. The images were shot in L.A. by the label's designer Scott Sterberg.
