For the first time since 1965, New York City may not be the host of the NFL Draft.

The 2015 NFL Draft won't be held at Radio City Music Hall, the event’s home since 2006, a source told NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. Building officials told the NFL that it would be unable to accommodate the draft in April or May of next year.

Around 12 cities have expressed interest in hosting the NFL Draft next year, the source added. However, league officials are said to be concentrating on New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago as potential hosts for the event.

The NFL sent letters to each of those cities to ascertain their plans for hosting the draft. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti have already begun to petition NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for the role, NFL.com's Chris Wesseling reported in May.

Meanwhile, the Madison Square Garden Company, which owns and operates the eponymous sports arena as well as Radio City Music Hall, The Forum in Los Angeles and the Chicago Theatre, is expected to be at the forefront of negotiations with the NFL, regardless of which city is chosen to host the draft.

The 2015 NFL Draft is slated to take place either from April 22-25 or April 29-May 2 of next year, Rapoport notes. It will be the league’s 80th amateur draft.
