Police have now confirmed that three explosions went off in Mumbai - one in South Mumbai at Opera House on Charni Road, one in the jewelry market of Zaveri Bazar near the famous Mumbadevi temple, and one in the crowded neighborhood of Dadar, in central Mumbai. All three are busy commercial and residential areas and were bustling with evening traffic when the explosions took place.

The explosion in Dadar was reportedly in a taxi. The blast in South Mumbai's Zaveri Bazaar was reportedly in an electric meter box. There was also a blast at Opera House.

The blasts went off within minutes of each other around 7:00 p.m. local time.

NDTV, a leading local news channel, reported that six people were killed. It also said the home ministry confirmed the violence could be a terrorist attack. An unconfirmed number are reportedly injured, according to the Times of India. Times of India also reports that in New Delhi, the home ministry put the National Security Guard on alert.
