30 Rock comedian Tracy Morgan is recovering after undergoing a kidney transplant. Morgan has been diagnosed with diabetes in 1996.

A statement issued by a representative said that the actor is doing well and taking some much needed time to recover after the surgery and is already looking forward to go back to work after the holidays.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Morgan would refrain from heavy work so he could have a full recovery from the surgery. The actor will be absent from 30 Rock for two to three future episodes.

Producers of the show said his absence would be attributed to a meltdown because of a good thing that's happened to him.

In 30 Rock, Tracy Morgan plays Tracy Jordan, a the loose cannon, crazy and unpredictable star of TGS. Morgan was a member of The Saturday Night Live from 1996 until 2003. He appeared in a cameo role in The Other Guys this year and will next be seen on the big screen in the animated film Rio.
