Bacon lovers rejoice because there is finally a day to celebrate all things bacon and the love you have for it. National Bacon Lover's Day will be taking place on Sunday, Aug. 20.

The special holiday takes place every year on that date, and honors the joy that bacon brings to the lives of those who love the processed meat product that is a staple among breakfast menu items, and also has a home on lunch and dinner menus as well. Thankfully, there are also several different ways to celebrate today as well, to maximize the benefits of loving bacon.

Here are four awesome ways to celebrate National Bacon Lover's Day:

Make Something Creative Out Of Bacon:

While we all know how to fry up strips of bacon so we can eat it with our breakfast, lunch or dinner, there are other creative ways to serve up the most delicious food in the world. Instead of just frying up the strips, try shaping them into fun things. If you happen to have someone special to celebrate on the 20th, you can gift them a bouquet of bacon roses. They're surprisingly easy to make, and offer a tasty twist on traditional roses.

Experiment With A New Dish:

One of the beautiful things about bacon is that it doesn't need to be served solely in strip form as a side dish or accompaniment to more traditional foods. It can be used to add amazing flavor to a variety of different dishes. Examples can include making brussels sprouts surprisingly appetizing with the addition of bacon, putting a new twist on Rice Krispies treats that involves peanut butter and bacon, having some fun with pizza toppings by making a BLT pizza, or putting a savory twist on dessert with Bourbon Bacon Maple Cupcakes.

Take Advantage Of Discount Codes and Deals:

While it's unlikely to get free bacon at any restaurants in honor of the holiday (definitely a missed opportunity), there are still discount codes that can be applied for other bacon-related savings. Those who will be in Chicago, Scottsdale, Arizona, Las Vegas, or Nashville, Tennessee can attend a Bacon and Beer Classic festival. In honor of the holiday there will be a flash sale that discounts tickets (using code LOVE) by $10.00 for entry. Those who wish to attend can go to the Chicago event at Daley Plaza on Sept. 30, the Scottsdale event at Scottsdale Stadium on Oct. 7, the Las Vegas event at Llama Lot on Oct. 14, or the Nashville event at Nissan Stadium on Oct. 21.

Attend a Bacon Related Event:

You can find a festival for almost anything these days, and that includes bacon. Those in Kettering, Ohio are exceptionally lucky as the Fraze Pavilion will be the site of a free festival known as Baconfest on National Bacon Lover's Day. The event, which opens at 1 p.m., will feature live music, as well as samples from local restaurants which will showcase the number of ways that locals can baconate their meal.
