The endless speculation for “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans is finally over after E.L. James announced Monday that Charlie Hunnam will play Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson Anastasia Steel in the film adaptation of the British author’s best-selling series. While plenty of “Fifty Shades” lovers were thrilled that the constant gossip over who will play the kinky billionaire and his lover is ended at last, many more are disappointed with the result.

James, whose real name is Erika Mitchell, has been teasing her fans for months on her Twitter account when it came to who would play the coveted roles. But on Labor Day, the author revealed to her 350,000 followers that Johnson would be Ana and an hour later said the stunning Hunnam would be Mr. Grey.

“I am delighted to let you know that the lovely Dakota Johnson has agreed to be our Anastasia in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey,” she wrote Monday afternoon.

Then she added, “The gorgeous and talented Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Johnson is best known for her role in Fox sitcom “Ben & Kate,” which is no longer running. She also appeared in “The Five-Year Engagement” and “21 Jump Street.” Hunnam, on the other hand, is best known for his role in FX’s “Sons of Anarchy” as Jax Teller.

But what do fans think? Hundreds have weighed in, and it seems that not many people are happy with the way Ana or Christian was cast. Dreams of Matt Bomber, Henry Cavill or Ian Somerhalder were crushed. While it would be safe to say that fans were generally more concerned with who would play Christian as opposed to Ana, many wanted to see Alexis Bledel in the coveted role.
