Will “50 Shades Of Grey” fans find out at Comic Con who will portray Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the movie version of the erotic bestseller? Despite some rumors circulating, author E.L. James denies any movie casting announcement will happen there.

“I dunno where this rumour started that the cast would be revealed at Comic Con … but it is just that – a rumour. (Sighs),” James tweeted on July 1.

The rumor mill started when a source told HollywoodLife.com that “a reveal of the cast is currently planned for Comic Con,” the annual comic-book fan convention in New York.

The hype around the casting for “Fifty Shades” comes on the heels of an official theater release date. Focus Features took to its Facebook page last week to share the announcement of the North American release:

“The global release of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ will start in North America on Friday, August 1, 2014, with opening dates around the world to be announced. The Focus Features domestic theatrical release will be in theaters nationwide. Universal Pictures International is releasing the movie in the rest of the world.”

Besides a release date, “Fifty Shades of Grey” also has a director attached to the project. Sam Taylor-Johnson, who made her directorial debut in 2009 with “Nowhere Boy,” is set to tackle the task of transferring the erotic novel's pages to the big screen.

With the recent announcements, the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film is definitely in full swing, but fans will have to wait a little longer for casting news. Actors including Ian Somerhalder, Robert Pattinson and Stephen Amell are reportedly in the running for the highly sought-after role of Christian Grey, while names like Lucy Hale, Nina Dobrev and Alexis Bledel are being tossed around for the role of Anastasia Steele, Grey’s submissive lover.
