Good news and bad news for “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans. First the bad – the erotic movie has been pushed back from Aug. 1, 2014 to Valentine’s Day weekend … 2015. So, what’s the good news? It’ll be easier for the ladies to drag their men to the theaters!

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the highly anticipated movie adaption of E. L. James’ sexy trilogy was pushed back to Feb. 13, 2015 due to numerous reasons – including the Charlie Hunnam/ Jamie Dornan Christian Grey switch up. The news site is reporting that Universal’s production delay to prep Dornan was one factor, but the studio was also worried about competition with their initial Aug. 1 release date. The upcoming Marvel action film, “Guardians of the Galaxy,” along with the World Cup in Brazil, made for some stiff competition.

“We see this movie as a global event,” Universal pictures chairman Donna Langley explained to EW. “The strength of this book is really worldwide, so we want to be able to take advantage of women who are invariably on vacation with their families during the month of August in Europe.”

Entertainment Weekly’s news on the release date coincides with their magazine cover for Nov. 22 – an exclusive look at Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. “Keep your eyes peeled … ;)” author E.L. James tweeted Wednesday, Nov. 13 before reposting EW’s photo of the cover of the magazine.

“Fifty Shades of Grey” still hasn’t announced its full cast yet. Jennifer Ehle will be tackling the role of Anastasia’s mom, Carla May Wilks. Luke Grimes of “True Blood” will be playing Christian Grey’s hot adopted brother, Elliot Grey. And Victor Rasuk landed the role of Jose Rodriguez, Anastasia’s college friend who has strong feelings for her.

Rumors are currently circulating that Katie Holmes has nabbed the role of Elena or “Mrs. Robinson,” the older woman that seduced Christian into the dark world of S&M when he was a young boy. Anastasia’s best friend (and future lover of Elliot Grey) has yet to be cast as well.

The delayed release date will likely push back the first official trailer, which was rumored to air during the 2014 super Bowl. The Wrap had initially reported that press screenings for the film would start in July and that fans could “expect a trailer in the spring, possibly during the Super Bowl.”
