Next week's barrage of earnings releases offers further guidance on the health of U.S. companies.

“The domestic economy remains soft” and third-quarter economic indicators are mixed, David Levy, chairman of the Jerome Levy Forecasting Center LLC, wrote in the October Levy Forecast.

The U.S. may well continue its “plodding expansion” through the end of the year, but there are many threats hanging over the 2013 outlook, Levy said, adding that “some decline in profits from the third quarter to the fourth is still more likely than not, and any likely scenario will disappoint Wall Street’s current earnings expectations.”

Of the 14 percent of S&P companies having reported earnings so far, 64 percent have beaten expectations. That’s less than the 67 percent average for the past four quarters, according to Thomson Reuters data. Earnings for S&P 500 components are expected to decline 1.7 percent from a year ago.

Investors will hear from major players including: Caterpillar, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, AT&T, Sprint Nextel, Comcast, Merck, Eli Lilly, Bristol Myers Squibb, United Parcel Service, Boeing, Delta Air Lines, US Airways and JetBlue Airways.

Here's a list of 60 notable companies set to report their earnings Oct. 22-26. We've highlighted expected reporting dates and times, along with analysts' earnings-per-share and revenue estimates from Reuters, as well as the stocks' year-to-date performances.
