Each year, 7-Eleven customers look forward to quenching their summertime thirst on July 11, or Free Slurpee Day. This year, the convenience-store chain is celebrating its 87th birthday with a full week of freebies, starting Friday, by giving away millions of its signature sugary drink to customers.

In addition to free Slurpees, 7-Eleven will give away candy, cookies, ice cream and other treats through Saturday, July 19.

Between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. this Friday at participating stores, customers can get a free 12 oz. Slurpee. No coupon or loyalty program membership is required. This is the 12th year that the Dallas-based retailer has offered free Slurpees on its birthday. To receive each day's free offer, customers must download and register on the 7-Eleven app to obtain a barcode, the company said. The customer will receive the free item as they check out. But you're in luck, the app isn't required to get a free Slurpee on Friday, July 11.

Here's each day's free offer that will be featured on 7-Eleven's smartphone app:

Friday, July 11: Small Slurpee

Saturday, July 12: Big Gulp soft drink

Sunday, July 13: M&M’s Birthday Cake Flavor Candies

Monday, July 14: Grandma’s Cookies

Tuesday, July 15: Hostess Twinkies

Wednesday, July 16: Snickers or Twix Ice Cream Bar

Thursday, July 17: Quaker Chewy Yogurt Snack Bar

Friday, July 18: Pillsbury Cookie

Saturday, July 19: Small Slurpee drink

Participating 7-Eleven stores also are offering quarter-pound Big Bite hot dogs, with choice of toppings, this Friday for $1 as part of the birthday celebration.

“Every year on 7-Eleven Day, we take the opportunity to thank our guests for their patronage throughout the year,” Laura Gordon, 7-Eleven vice president of marketing, said. “This year we’re saying thanks in an even bigger way with eight days of free stuff. Summer is the season of fun, and each day’s special offer through our 7-Eleven app is a fun treat to enjoy, compliments of 7-Eleven and our supplier partners.”

7-Eleven said last year it gave away 7 million free Slurpees to customers, and it expects to top that number this year. The company has 10,300 stores in North America.
