Due to medical complications, we were advised to have a baby through IVF - surrogacy - and we feel very grateful to the Almighty that all has gone well, said the actor in a statement.

This baby is especially dear to us, because he was born to us after a long wait and some difficulty, Khan, 46, said. We are humbled by the greatness of God, the miracles of science and the kindness and love of our families and friends in being there for us while respecting our privacy, he added.

Khan has two children from his first marriage to Reena Dutta. He married Rao, 38, in 2005.

There has been a few celebrity couples who had a baby through surrogacy. They include Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Chris Daughtry and Deanna Daughtry, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, Dennis Quaid and wife Kimberly, Joan Lunden and Jeff Konigsberg.
