The first time Aaron Carter candidly expressed his love for ex-girlfriend Hilary Duff, he took to Twitter, but most recently he sat down for an interview with Entertainment Tonight last week. When he was asked if he still loved her, he said “absolutely.”

"I don't know who she is today, she doesn't know who I am today," the singer said, "but I would sweep her off her feet if I ever got a chance to again and fix what I did wrong."

The two were an “it” couple back then but were torn apart when Carter was rumored to have cheated on Duff with none other than Lindsay Lohan, everyone’s favorite troubled redhead. Duff moved on with her life, marrying former NFL player Mike Comrie and giving birth to son Luca, but things apparently didn’t work out and now the 26-year-old blonde cutie is back on the market again. Carter apparently sees this as his last chance.

The two dated for three years before their relationship ended in 2003. They’ve been over for more than a decade, but the passion hasn’t died, at least for Nick Carter’s younger brother.

"Don't be that stupid douche that loses the love of your life forever.. Like me…" he tweeted via Us Weekly, along with a recent photo of Duff. "I'll spend the rest of my life trying to better myself to get back to her. I don't care what ANY of you think." Even though Carter has been as public as possible about wanting to get his ex-girlfriend back, Duff hasn’t responded to his attempts, at least openly.

The point wasn’t to get Duff to respond, though; Carter said he just wanted her to know how he felt. "That wasn't meant for the media or anybody like that — I didn't think about it really. I wasn't really looking for [a response] either," he said. "I'm sure she got the message."
