Aaron Ramsey has found his scoring boots again in some style. The Arsenal midfielder had gone 15 matches without a goal before Saturday’s effort in vain against Stoke City, but added two more to his tally in the first 30 minutes of the Champions League clash at Galatasaray on Wednesday. And while his first was a neat finish, his second was spectacular effort.

The immediate danger looked to have been averted when Galatasaray headed away a corner, but, without a second thought, Ramsey met the ball with the cleanest of strikes on the half volley to send it careering right into the top corner of the Turkish side’s net from fully 30 yards. The memorable effort made the score 3-0 to Arsenal, with Ramsey getting his first goal in the 11th minute following a ferocious opener by Lukas Podolski.

Ramsey was a regular on the score sheet last season when he enjoyed the best campaign of his career. But he has found them much tougher to come by this term. Arsenal have also struggled at the start of the season, yet they could still secure top spot in their Champions League group should results go their way. A win against Galatasaray coupled with a defeat for Borussia Dortmund against Anderlecht would send Arsenal through as group winners. But Arsenal’s fast start also opens up the possibility that they could get the six-goal margin of victory required were Dortmund to draw.
