Despite struggles throughout the Serie A campaign for both clubs, AC Milan and Inter enter the next stage of their storied rivalry in Sunday’s Milan Derby at San Siro.

Milan has fallen to the bottom half of the league table, winning one of their last five matches, while allowing 25 goals in 16 fixtures season. Forward and leading scorer Mario Balotelli does have the chance to turn his team and maybe even their season around with a top performance against rival Inter.

Inter has fared better and are currently sixth, though the 4-2 loss to Napoli last week knocked Walter Mazzarri’s side down a notch. But the squad should get a boost with their die-hard supporters allowed to enter San Siro after a suspension over a “geographically discriminatory chant” during the Napoli loss was struck down.

Balotelli and Robinho, along with Sulley Muntari will try to punch through Inter keeper Samir Handanovic’s wall. The Slovenian has five clean sheets and 42 saves in 15 matches this season.

Rodrigo Palacio has notched nine league goals for Inter, and is just as deft a playmaker providing assistance on five other goals. Ricardo Alvarez is first on the squad with six assists

Inter has won three of the last four matches. In their last meeting, the sides finished 1-1, but Inter took the first match 1-0 behind Walter Samuel’s goal.
