Acer Iconia Tab A500
The tablet set to receive Ice Cream Sandwich update in April? Acer

The Acer Iconia Tab A500 is expected to receive an Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich update in April this year.

The announcement was made by Acer Australia and New Zealand after the previous Acer Iconia Tab A200 recently received an official Ice Cream Sandwich update from manufacturers.

“Great news, everyone! We’ve just got confirmation from HQ that the Iconia Tab A500 will be getting Ice Cream Sandwich in April. No exact date yet, but we’ll let you know when we have it. What are you looking forward to most in ICS?” Acer informed its fans on Facebook.

No exact date has been provided for the update thus far and it is still uncertain as to when the update will reach the United States and Europe, according to an Android Police report.

The 10.1-inch Acer Iconia Tab A500 currently runs on Android 3.0 or Honeycomb and features a dual-core, 1 GHz Cortex-A9 processor with Nvidia Tegra 2 T20 chipset. The device has a primary 5 MP, 2592 x 1944 pixels, autofocus, LED flash rear camera, and another front-facing 2 MP camera.
