Football season has been over for months, but the spirit of the sport was alive at the 2015 Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday night. The 50th anniversary event took place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas – the home of “America’s Team,” the Dallas Cowboys.

Although the night is dedicated to the hottest acts in country music, Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Tony Romo was on hand to toss around the ball with ACM Award hosts Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton. Bryan was visibly excited to be able to play catch with the star QB, however Shelton didn’t have much faith in his co-host’s athletic abilities.

“Can you even catch a pass?” Shelton questioned Bryan.

“Hell yes,” he responded, breaking out his very own “sticky gloves.”

Bryan proved Shelton wrong by catching Romo’s pass, however Shelton had his doubts about the authenticity of the throw. He went as far as to ask if Romo threw a deflated ball – a reference to “deflategate,” a controversy that surrounded the New England Patriots this year.

“Blake, we’re the Dallas Cowboys,” Romo responded. “We have real balls.”
