British songstress Adele has topped multiple charts since her January release of Someone Like You, but believe it or not, the music video for the hit single is only arriving now.

Shot in Paris, the video was directed by fellow Brit Jake Nava, whose impressive resume includes Mark Morrison's Return of the Mack (1996), Britney Spears' My Prerogative (2004), The Rolling Stones' Streets of Love (2005) and most recently Kanye West's star-studded Monster (2010).

The location evokes style and romance . . . shooting early in the morning allows you to focus on Adele in this lovely and emotional space, Nava said in a statement to MTV.

On Sept. 9, Adele soared from No. 19 to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with Someone Like You, making the jump the biggest in the chart's 53-year history.

Adele, whose real name is Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, first entered the music scene in 2008 with her debut album 19. Responsible for the hits Chasing Pavements and the Bob Dylan cover Make You Feel My Love, the album has since sold more than 4 million copies worldwide.

19 also earned the 23-year-old two Grammys in 2009, for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

The success of 21 has been no different from its predecessor. Less than a year after its release, Adele's sophomore album has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide. At the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, the singer delivered a heartbreaking performance of Someone Like You and took home three moon man awards for the album's first single, Rolling in the Deep.

As with most of Adele's songs, Someone Like You tells the story of a previous relationship, as the singer has confirmed in several interviews.

I was really emotionally drained from the way I was portraying him, because even though I'm very bitter and regret some parts of it, he's still the most important person that's ever been in my life . . . I had to write to feel OK with myself and OK with the two years I spent with him. And when I did it, I felt so freed, she told MTV in February.

The official music video for Someone Like You premieres on MTV on Thursday.
