The Affair season 2 episode 12
Alison Lockhart (Ruth Wilson) is ready to tell her husband a huge secret she's been keeping from him in the Season 2 finale of "The Affair." Showtime

Things are getting tense on Season 2 of "The Affair." Alison Lockhart (Ruth Wilson) is ready to tell Noah Solloway (Dominic West) the secret she's been keeping -- presumably that Joanie isn't his daughter -- in episode 12 and Cole Lockhart (Joshua Jackson) angrily tells his brother Scotty Lockhart (Colin Donnell) that he was never going to be a part of his and Alison's business deal.

As recapped in Sunday's episode 11, Alison and Cole secretly bought the Lobster Roll even though it was Scotty's idea to purchase it and turn into a lucrative business. Cole felt Scotty was too strung-out on drugs to handle it, so he recruited Alison and Luisa (Catalina Sandino Moreno) to go into business with him and help him buy the Lobster Roll. Of course when Scotty found out what happened he was angry, but Cole assured his troubled brother that if he went to rehab he would be their new business partner.

Well, Cole lied and Scotty finds out in the Season 2 finale. According to TV Guide's official synopsis the Showtime series ends "as events set in motion long ago come to their conclusion." The outlet teases that a "startling admission" upsets Noah, and a "dispute between Cole and Scotty is followed by tragedy." The finale will also deliver the verdict in Noah's trial, which TV Guide reports takes a turn following a "shocking event."

In one sneak peek of episode 12, Scotty confronts Cole at his and Luisa's wedding about their business deal. It's revealed that Scotty spent three months in rehab, but Cole doesn't think that's long enough for his brother to get clean.

“Do it for six months. Do it for a year, then we can talk," a frustrated Cole tells Scotty. Alison is the background trying to calm the brothers down, but Cole tells Scotty there was never a deal and he lied to get him into rehab. Cole tells his brother not to ruin his wedding and walks away.

In a second preview, Noah is actually remorseful for all the drama and chaos he's caused in everyone’s lives. The writer admits he's made a few bad choices. Meanwhile, Alison says that she's "tired" of keeping secrets from him.

The last sneak peek shows Noah and his ex-wife Helen (Maura Tierney) sitting on the beach talking following Cole and Luisa's wedding. Noah says he has "something awful" to tell her and admits he never wanted his daughter Joanie. Noah explains that he was furious when Alison got pregnant because he thought she was trying to trap him.

To see how everything at the wedding unfolds and to find out who killed Scotty Lockhart, make sure to watch the 70-minute Season 2 finale of "The Affair" Sunday, Dec. 20, at 10 p.m. on Showtime.
