The latest season of 'American Idol' continues to enthrall the audiences with several high-profile performances, and promises much more to come even as the competition field narrowed down to Top 6 Thursday. Among the guest performances, the show always gets an additional boost when former winners return to the stage where it all began for them. After Kelly Clarkson kicked off a storm with her performance on April 14, seventh season winner David Cook took the 'Idol' stage April 21 to debut his new single, 'The Last Goodbye'.

Despite having to share the Thursday episode with Katy Perry, David Cook grabbed the limelight with his performance. 'The Last Goodbye', which is Cook's first official single after he released his second self-titled album in 2008, is slated for release on May 2, 2011. Before the 'American Idol'-aided popularity boost, Cook had released an album called 'Analog Heart'.

Interestingly, Kelly Clarkson, who shared the 'American Idol' stage with R&B star Rihanna on the previous weekly Thursday results show, also managed to grab more attention despite just having performed a duet with country singer Jason Aldean, 'Don’t You Wanna Stay'.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that Bruno Mars, whose single 'Grenade' was one of the songs the contestants had the option of singing during the Hollywood week auditions, will also be performing on the show.

Following is the video of Cook's live performance of his new single 'The Last Goodbye' from the latest album titled, ‘This Loud Morning’ on American Idol, Season 10:
