Yahoo Music is reporting that legendary musician Phil Collins officially called it quits with the music business.

I look at the MTV Music Awards and I think, 'I can't be in the same business as this', he said. I don't really belong to that world and I don't think anyone's going to miss me. I'm much happier just to write myself out of the script entirely.

The 60-year-old musician known for hits like In the Air Tonight and True Colors decided it was time to retire. The Telegraph is reporting that Collins is suffering a few health issues such as hearing problems, a dislocated vertebrae and nerve damage in his hands.

It's hardly surprising that people grew to hate me. I'm sorry that it was all so successful. I honestly didn't mean it to happen like that, said the former Genesis drummer who now lives in Switzerland.

Phil Collins ranked #22 on Billboard's Hot 100 Top All-Time Artists.
