Fans will be excited to see “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2 return, but it doesn’t seem like their favorite characters are too happy in the new promo video and photos released for the midseason premiere. It seems “S.H.I.E.L.D.” will take a dark turn when Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) team returns.

In the photos above, it looks like Coulson has to deliver the news of Triplett’s (B.J. Britt) death to his mother (Donzaleigh Abernathy). Despite having family members in the service for generations, his death will still be hard to handle. Coulson is pictured comforting the woman after he delivers the news.

For the most part, the photos are just close-ups of cast members looking concerned or sad. However, a couple more spoilery details can be found. Coulson and May (Ming-Na Wen) have Gen. Talbot (Adrian Pasdar) on a tablet for a conversation, so it seems S.H.I.E.L.D. is likely still on speaking terms with the U.S. government. It also looks like Mack (Henry Simmons) is recovering from his alien possession, and Fitz is still around too. As we noted in the first midseason premiere promo, Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) seems to be sticking around, despite his promise to transfer.

While none of the good guys look happy, it’s nice to know that the bad guys feel even worse. Bakshi (Simon Kassianides) also is in the photos above. It looks like he was put in a S.H.I.E.L.D. containment facility after Ward (Brett Dalton) handed him over to Coulson’s team.

However, Skye (Chloe Bennet) won’t be focused on any recent S.H.I.E.L.D. achievements. In a new promo video that premiered during the 2015 Oscars, it seems she can only worry about losing the people closest to her. While locked in a containment cell marked “Danger Keep Out,” she reflects on what she feels she is about to lose.

“My whole life I wanted a family,” she says. “S.H.I.E.L.D. took me in. They trained me to be an agent, but there was something inside of me. Something I didn’t even know was there. Something possibly Inhuman. And if it gets out, nothing will ever be the same.”

As the room starts to shake and the ground starts to crack beneath her, Skye looks terrified. It appears she’ll have trouble adjusting to her new Inhuman powers.

This promo also marks the first time a character has actually said the word “Inhuman.” While executive producers and cast members have confirmed that Skye is an Inhuman, the word was never spoken in the first half of the season.

The midseason premiere of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2 airs Tuesday, March 3, at 9 p.m. EST on ABC. Do you think Skye will learn to handle her powers quickly or will it be a long process? Share your theories in the comments section below!
