New season, new bad guys. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 will kick off by introducing Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) next adversary. Coulson assigned Skye/Daisy (Chloe Bennet) to put together a team of Inhumans in the Season 2 finale, and it looks like their search will put them in harm’s way in Season 3, episode 1, titled “Laws of Nature.” According to the premiere synopsis, they’ll meet someone else looking for people like Daisy.
“When Coulson and the team discover a new Inhuman, S.H.I.E.L.D. comes face to face with another organization searching for powered people,” the synopsis teases. Luckily, the season 3 synopsis already revealed a bit more information. We know that the new organization is the ATCU (Advanced Threat Containment Unit), led by Constance Zimmer’s mysterious new character. She and her colleague Banks (Andrew Howard) will be introduced in this episode.
She isn’t the only newbie being introduced in episode 1. That new Inhuman the team is after Joey (Juan Pablo Raba). It isn’t clear who he is or what his powers are, but Daisy finds him in the trailer. “My name is Daisy, I’m with S.H.I.E.L.D. and we’re here for your protection,” she says.

While the rest of the team are running into new enemies, Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) will be tracking down a bad guy that he can’t find. The engineer will still be looking for Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) after the Kree monolith absorbed her in the finale. “And still reeling from Simmons’ dramatic disappearance, Fitz goes to extreme lengths to try to learn how to get her back,” the synopsis warns. As previously reported, a time jump will show that most of the team has given up on finding the chemist. Fitz might be the only one who can save Simmons.
Not mentioned in the synopsis is Lash (Matthew Willig). Yet the scary Inhuman is credited as appearing in the episode, so it looks like fans will get to see this comic book character brought to life in the season premiere.
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC.
