“Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will try to get a little closer to the comic books in Season 3. Chloe Bennet revealed that she’ll cut her hair to make Skye look more like Daisy Johnson this fall on the ABC drama.

“Everyone say buh-bye to the long hair because Daisy Johnson is coming at you,” Bennet said in an Instagram video.

Bennet looked rather apprehensive in the video. It’s understandable why she might be nervous. Daisy Johnson has a short, pixie cut in the Marvel comic books. It’s a pretty big change for Bennet who has had long hair for most of her career.

However, it seems the actress didn’t have to chop off all of her hair for the new style. She clarified to her Twitter followers that Skye wasn’t going quite as short as her comic book alter-ego. Much like the way “S.H.I.E.L.D.” alters the comic book mythology to fit their needs, they’ll also make the hair a bit different.

The actress hasn’t posted a picture yet, but she teased a new ‘do while at San Diego Comic-Con. “I want to stay true to the character, but I also want – she is different from who she is in the comics,” Bennet told ComicBook.com. “So I think we’re going to do something a little bit edgier.”

Bennet added that she wasn’t sure she’d ever get to wear Daisy’s costume from the comics, but she wouldn’t mind it. “I’m really excited,” she said. “It would be such a fun thing to kind of get to go to work and dress up like a superhero.”

The haircut is just one of many changes Skye is making to fully embrace her new identity as Daisy Johnson/Quake. In addition to a new hairstyle, she’ll start using her real name. Daisy only discovered her official moniker when she met her parents during “Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 2.

“[Meeting her family] was a little crazy and it was probably a little overwhelming, but she kind of learned to have this weirdly beautiful relationship with her father,” Bennet explained to Spoiler TV. “Out of respect for him and kind of like a closing for that chapter, I think for her being called Daisy and kind of letting Skye go is symbolic.”

“Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 9 p.m. EDT.
