“Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 took viewers to another planet for the first time in the premiere. Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) was shown running through some sort of alien desert as Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) was told to stop looking for her. That isn’t the last we’ve seen of this new planet.

Executive producer Jeffery Bell promised that viewers will see more of Simmons’ new location, which he confirmed is in a different solar system. “There will be some breadcrumbs, and then at some point we will fully explore what’s happened to her in a way that is maybe the craziest thing we’ve done,” Bell told Entertainment Weekly. “We’ve very excited. It’s a different kind of episode for us — to give Elizabeth and Simmons the chance to really show what she went through seems really cool.”

The premiere revealed that several months had passed since the monolith transported her, and Simmons will be very different after so much time alone. “She’s definitely still her essence — she doesn’t just completely change,” Henstridge added. “But she’s been through so much. She’s hardened. She’s had to face things that she never would’ve imagined, also by herself without Fitz, so she’s definitely changed, stronger and kind of damaged.”

Currently, Fitz is the only one still looking for her. His love for Simmons has made him determined to find her, but working without the team has changed him too. “She's definitely affected from the whole experience, she's been alone this whole time and no one will really understand what she went through,” Henstridge told the Hollywood Reporter. “And that's certainly going to affect her relationship with Fitz. He's been on this mission to find her, a solo mission, and so he's changed throughout this process as well. There's still a huge question mark for them.”

Fitz might not be working alone for much longer. He’ll bring in an Asgardian warrior in episode 2 to help find his love. The whole team might find a reason not to give up hope soon. “We’re all gonna be pretty adamant on seeing what happens with Simmons,” Bell told Variety. “So the team is gonna go to great lengths to try and get her back.” Simmons fans will have to hope that the team figures out how to travel to another solar system quickly.
