“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 warned fans that the Secret Warriors were coming in June, but it’s been quite a wait. While Daisy (Chloe Bennet) has been trying to put together a team, she really only has Joey (Juan Pablo Raba) and Lincoln (Luke Mitchell) on her squad of Inhumans. However, the latest casting news makes it clear that her group will get bigger in the spring. Daisy will welcome Yo-Yo Rodriguez/Slingshot (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) to her team.

Point of Geeks reports that Cordova-Buckley has recently been cast in the role and will start filming in January. While not much is known about her TV show storyline, we already know plenty about her from the comics. Yo-Yo is Puerto Rican character with super speed, but this runner isn’t just like Quicksilver. She has to return to the point where she started running, hence the codename Slingshot, the Marvel Database reports.

In the comics, Yo-Yo is recruited by Daisy and Nick Fury for the Secret Warriors. Much like Coulson (Clark Gregg) in the ABC drama, she loses her hands while fighting the bad guys and gets cybernetic replacements. She is considered a good fighter, and she prefers using a bo staff, Comic Vine notes.

She also isn’t an Inhuman in the comics. She inherited her speed from her father, Johnny Horton, whose DNA was mutated. Horton was a villain in Marvel comics and he has actually already been mentioned “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” John Garrett (Bill Paxton) mentioned him at the end of Season 1 as a prisoner in the Fridge.

It isn’t clear what her storyline in “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 will be or how much of her comic book history will actually be used, but her powers seem ideal for joining Daisy’s team. It’s been difficult to find Inhumans who can adjust to their new powers. Many have powers that make them a danger to themselves or someone else that they just don’t know how to control. Slingshot’s powers seem safe enough to get her approved for the Secret Warriors team. Though fans have to wonder who exactly will be the one approving people without Andrew (Blair Underwood) around.

Since Cordova isn’t filming until January, it will be a while before fans see her. Once “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” goes on winter hiatus, “Marvel’s Agent Carter” will air in the time slot until March. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
