“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is getting into a habit of bringing dead characters back to life. After entering the Framework, an alternate reality, earlier this year, Grant Ward was revealed to be alive and well. In Season 4, episode 18, Antoine “Trip” Triplett was also discovered to be decidedly not dead.

The episode featured Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the Patriot (Jason O’Mara) breaking into a Hydra facility, and that’s where they found Trip being held in a cage. Unlike Ward (Brett Dalton), Trip doesn’t seem that different in this reality. It looks like he was still working for S.H.I.E.L.D. in the Framework. He even used his grandpa’s Howling Commandos gear to take photos of plans Hydra had drawn up.

Jemma (Elizabeth Henstridge) was particularly shocked to see Trip alive, but it makes sense. In the real world, Trip died when Daisy (Chloe Bennet) went through terrigenesis, but Daisy’s journey to getting powers didn’t involve as much collateral damage this time.

B.J. Britt’s return has “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” fans stoked. They’re using the hashtag #TripLives to express their excitement about the new development. It’s actually a tag they’ve been using for quite some time in hopes of getting their favorite character back. It seems their wish has been granted — for now, at least. Check out some of their reactions below:

Britt’s co-stars seem to be happy as well. Both Gregg and Ming-Na Wen, who plays May, sent out excited tweets after the show finally revealed Trip was back.

Unfortunately, Trip’s return might not be for long. He only exists in the alternate reality of the Framework, which Simmons and Daisy are desperately trying to escape.

While old faces can return inside the Framework, it’s a different story on the outside. At the end of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 4, episode 18, the Patriot gave his life to save others in the Framework. Mace died in the real world as well, and it doesn’t seem like he will make a sudden return.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 4 airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
