American International Group is near a deal to sell its auto insurance business, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.

A deal between Swiss insurer Zurich Financial Services and AIG would be worth $1.5 billion, according to the report.

The deal has not been finalized and may still be abandoned, the report said.
