Brazil's Air Force said on Tuesday it found airplane seats and other debris floating in the Atlantic Ocean, believed to possibly be from the missing Air France Airliner.

The debris was found along the path that a missing Air France jet was flying, the debris has not yet been removed from the water.

The pieces will be analyzed to determine whether they are part of the Air France Airbus flight AF 447 with 228 people on board; 216 passengers and 12 crew members.

The debris and material that may be metallic and signs of oil and kerosene was found approximately 390 miles (650 kilometers) northeast of the Brazilian archipelago of Fernando de Noronha.

Earlier a report from a TAM pilot said he had seen yellow patches, believed to be fire, in the area.
