Now that it’s November, it turns out the AirPods have been not just delayed, but possibly delayed until 2017. Apple

The Apple AirPods release date could be sooner than we thought. The AirPods will allegedly begin shipping over the “next few weeks,” it was revealed in an email obtained by MacRumors from a customer to Apple CEO Tim Cook.

In the email, the customer asks:

"Give us a release date. I really bought in to the wireless vision you painted. Now I'm stuck waiting with my EarPods but can't charge my 7 at the same time which I need to do at work. Let us know if it's a month or 6 months, because then I'll just buy some other wireless headphones."

Cook then allegedly replies:

"Thanks for your note. Sorry for the delay---we are finalizing them and I anticipate we will begin to ship over the next few weeks."

MacRumors said it has verified the email’s headers and said it seems to originate from Apple’s corporate servers. Apple executives sometimes reply to customers, but some emails could be fake, MacRumors noted.

Apple has AirPods listed on its website for $159, but the earphones are currently marked as “coming soon," with no AirPods released date listed.

The AirPods were announced during Apple’s September event. They were supposed to launch in late October, but the company said it still needed “a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers."

"The early response to AirPods has been incredible. We don't believe in shipping a product before it's ready, and we need a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers," Apple told TechCrunch.
