Gone are the days of Green Bay Packers linebacker's, AJ Hawk, golden blonde hair flowing from underneath his helmet. Hawk showed off his new haircut on Friday in photos posted on Twitter, after he cut his hair for a charity for children.

Today is a special day for me as I've decided to cut off my hair and give it to someone who needs it more than I do, Hawk wrote on Twitter.

Hawk and his wife partnered with Wigs for Kids, a charity for children who have lost their hair after undergoing cancer treatment. Through the partnership, Hawk is starting his own charity within Wigs for Kids, as well.

Thanks to wigs for kids for partnering with us,my wife and I are proud to start Hawk's locks for Kids which will be helping kids with cancer, he wrote.

Hawk said he was inspired by children battling cancer who have lost their hair.

No child should have to feel ashamed of themselves due to a disease. We are hoping to raise enough money and hair donations to change many lives! Hawk wrote on Twitter.

AJ Hawk also said he plans to hold an event in June to convince others with hair 12 inches or longer to get a haircut and donate to the charity too.

For those of you asking where to donate hair to our cause please send it to the following address, Hawk wrote. Hawks Locks for Kids 4890 Blazer Pkwy #B Dublin OH 43017.
