Min: IBTImes - Madrid exploding into rhythm right from the beginning, pinning the Dutch side back. Madrid mean business here. They want to finish it off early and not risk themselves for the upcoming El Classico!
Min: IBTImes - Pedro Leon had acres of time and space in the right of the Ajax D, and would you believe it! He missed. It took an age for him to tee up his shot, and the defender managed to get back in time to block his effort.
Min: IBTImes - High paced game here, with Madrid doing all the attacking. But Ajax will be desperate to get something off this to maintain their hopes of a progress to the knock-outs.
Min: IBTImes - Another Madrid chance go begging. Ronaldo's pace is causing Ajax problems, and this time it is Mesut Ozil with space inside the D. But his shot from the left is blocked out for a corner. And the set piece is punched out by Stekenlenberg. Madrid's intentions are clear - Attack, attack and Attack!
Min: IBTImes - Now Ajax win their first corner off their first reasonable attempt, when a long diagonal ball down from the right finds Suarez, who does excellently to fight off Arbeloa and win the corner. The corner is punched away, but it is put back only to get cleared again. That corner seems to have given Ajax a couple of chances to attack. But they have to be careful of the Madrid counter.
Min: IBTImes - Here's a gist of what's happening in the group G - A draw is enough for Real Madrid to qualify. AC Milan will qualify if they win in Auxerre while Ajax lose. Wins for Ajax and Milan would mean Auxerre cannot make the Europa League, which means they will finish 4th in the group.
Min: IBTImes - Back to the game now, and Ajax seems to have got hold of a bit of the ball. However, they continuously fail to open up that Madrid defence, which has been uncharacteristically stingy this season. Or in other words, the Jose Mourinho effect.
Min: IBTImes - Now Madrid have a couple of quick chances on goal. Benzema plays a one-two with Ozil allowing him to burst into the box but his venomous shot from a tight angle is blocked well by Stekenlenberg, but the rebound falls to Ronaldo, who tries an audacious back-flick first time into goal. It's blocked, but that was one outrageous attempt.
Min: IBTImes - Ronaldo is brought down in the box, but his penalty appeal is rejected. The forward doesn't seem pleased. He seemed convinced that it was a penalty. He almost threw a tantrum! His next action is the game is a 25 yard shot after cutting in from the left, which almost flew out of the stadium.
Min: IBTImes - 25 minutes into the game, it's all Madrid here. Ajax just haven't seen enough of the ball to make reasonable attempt on goal.
Min: IBTImes - Ajax now trying the long ball route. Anita carries the ball till the half way line, before lifting it perfectly to the feet of Sulejmani. However, Xabi Alonso does brilliantly to get back and block his attempt, getting kicked heavily in the process. Great show of commitment from the Spaniard.
Min: IBTImes - Ajax has been betraying signs of nervousness so far. They have rushed into passes, and displayed a lot of nervous energy all over. It honestly isn't helping them, as Madrid are comfortably picking up their lose balls and launching into their own precise attacks. A Madrid goal ought to come sooner rather than later.
Min: IBTImes - GOAL! 1-0 MADRID! BENZEMA!
Min: IBTImes - A quick free kick from near the half way line was floated into the box to Ozil, who flicks it back brilliantly for Benzema, who finishes the move with a classy finish into the top-right corner. Great goal from a free-kick that never should have been.
Min: IBTImes - Possession wise it doesn't seem to be as divided a contest as it seems. Ajax 49% - 51% Madrid.
Min: IBTImes - Ronaldo receives treatment after a poke in the eye after going into a header.
Min: IBTImes - GOAL! 2-0 MADRID! Arbeloa!
Min: IBTImes - Ronaldo clatters a free kick straight into the wall from 30-35 yards out, but it rebounds to Arbeloa near around the same area. His shot is an absolute peach, moving in the air as though it was attracted by a magnet! Nothing Stekelenberg could do there. Beautiful goal.
Min: IBTImes - Half-time! Ajax Amsterdam 0-2 Real Madrid!
Half Time - Wrap - It was all Madrid in this first half. Nothing Ajax could do as the Los Blancos just charged all through. Two beautiful goals from Benzema and Arbeloa and it is, in all probability, game over. Ajax will find it hard to come back as Madrid will now be content to hold on to the ball, save energy and kill time. However, it will be interesting if the Dutch side can muster a goal early in the second half. It has been a brilliant first half, and it has me needing a cuppa. See you all in 15 minutes!
Min: IBTImes - And we're back in time for the second half. And Ajax have a made a substitution - Demy de Zeeuw In, Mounir El Hamdaoui Out.
Min: IBTImes - And Ronaldo embarks on one of his trademark runs. He beats Anita with pure pace and is one-on-one with the keeper. But Stekelenberg gets a hand to his shot, and it bounces off the crossbar for a corner. Unlucky. That run deserved a goal.
Min: IBTImes - It's seems all too familiar in the second half. Ajax are again pegged back by the pure quality of the Madrid attack .The Dutch club, despite their best efforts, does not seem capable of carving through this Madrid juggernaut.
Min: IBTImes - Madrid passes around the Ajax area with ease. Except for the center backs, the rest of the Los Blancos are all high up the Ajax half, pegging back their defence. Xabi Alonso finally slips through for Benzema, but his shot with his left is well over.
Min: IBTImes - Ajax have a chance here when Suarez cuts in from the right and runs across the edge of the D. He is brought down right on the edge, 20 yards out. Though there are claims of diving, the ref has none of it.
Min: IBTImes - Disappointing though, as Suarez blasts it straight into the wall. Ajax have to make use of their set pieces as the thought of them scoring from open play seems far fetched at the least.
Min: IBTImes - At the other end, Pedro Leon has a shot on goal after being layed-off by Ronaldo. However, his right footed shot from outside the box flies high.
Min: IBTImes - Now Madrid just slotting it around amongst themselves. Ajax are trying to put pressure high up, but Madrid just pass with lightening pace and precision.
Min: IBTImes - Substitution - Real Madrid bring on Angel Di Maria for Pedro Leon.
Min: IBTImes - Ajax have another chance with a free-kick from 40 yards after Suarez is brought down. This time it is layed off for Vertoghen who drills in low, but Casillas pulls out a brilliant one-handed save and even manages to hold on to the ball before releasing them on a counter.
GOAL! 3-0 MADRID! Ronaldo!
Min: IBTImes - How important that save from Casillas proved to be. It triggered off a Madrid counter which saw Ronaldo at the left of the Ajax D with just the goalie to beat from a tight angle. And he does just that slotting with his left foot into the far post. It is game over now, unless Ajax can come up with a miracle from their name sake diety!
Min: IBTImes - Benzema is brought down just outside the Ajax box, and it is another opportunity for Madrid to score. And they already have had quite a few. Ronaldo to take it, from the looks of it.
Min: IBTImes - Oh but it's Ozil who takes it with his left around the wall to the far post, but Stekelenberg pulls off a stunning save.
Min: IBTImes - Ajax attempt some damage limitation here, keeping the ball impressively stringing passes together. But they cannot seem to break into the Madrid defence. All they can do now is show something positive to take into their next league game.
Min: IBTImes - Penalty to Madrid - Ozil gets into the box, and his trickery draws a foul. Penalty and Ronaldo to take it.
GOAL! 4-0! Cristiano Ronaldo!
Min: IBTImes - What a show of calmness by Ronaldo. He strolls forward and calmly lifts it down the middle, just before Stekelenberg dives to his right. It is truly men against boys, and Madrid seem to be genuine contenders for the title which they have won 9 times.
Min: IBTImes - Madrid Substitution - Benzema Out, Sergio Canales In.
Min: IBTImes - Ajax have another opportunity for a consolation after Albiol brought down Suarez at the edge of the box. Albiol gets a yellow. Suarez takes the kick, and again, drives it straight into the wall. Wasted.
Min: IBTImes - 5 minutes plus stoppage time left in the half.
Min: IBTImes - Two yellow cards for Xabi Alonso and he is off! That's the softest red card you'll ever see, as he is booked for dissent for the second time. However, he will miss a match of no consequence against Auxerre.
Min: IBTImes - This is the most bizarre match ever. Sergio Ramos gets sent off for a second yellow for time wasting, again. Real have 9 players on the field now.
Min: IBTImes - Full Time - Ajax 0-4 Real Madrid!
Full Time: Wrap - No surprises there. Stunning win for Madrid. Two goals in each half with a Ronaldo double. Except for those bizarre sending offs in the end, the game was a real treat. A classic display of Men vs Boys. Real win the group comfortably. And Milan's win at Auxerre means they take the second qualification spot. Ajax will still have to fight for the Europe League place against Auxerre in Match-day 6. That's it from us at IBTimes today.
