Alex Torres and Hope Howell - the couple who videotaped themselves having sex in midair and released it on the Internet have been fired from the skydiving company they worked for.
Torres, a part-time instructor, and Howell, a receptionist at Skydive Taft, have been fired from their jobs by Davis Chrouch, the owner, for attempting this attention-seeking stunt. The couple admitted that they did this just to grab the attention of radio talk show host Howard Stern.
However, the receptionist has blamed Chrouch for acting innocent and lying. Chrouch had earlier said that he was not present when the video was taped.
Our boss was there, everything was approved and we did plan it out, said Howell.
However, Chrouch has denied the accusations. He said he was really surprised to know about the incident when one of the officers came over from the Taft Police Department and informed me this was going around the kids in school and stuff.
Howell confirmed that she no longer works for the company after she got a phone call saying that she was fired.
She added that the phone call was like a stab in my back but doesn't regret the crazy midair deed.
My adrenaline was rushing, I am happy I did it, and wouldn't change it for the world, it did get the attention of Howard Stern -- our whole goal in general, said Howel, 20, to 23ABC, I was so excited. I was pumped. I was ready for it to be edited.
The decision to make the tape was one the couple made together.
However, Stern has not made any comment about any deal and or ongoing negotiations with the couple.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) who is investigating the matter noted that any activity that could potentially distract the pilot could be a violation of federal regulations.
However, Chrouch told KGET-TV that he was not really bothered about a potential safety breach as the pilot was in complete control of the plane at all times.
According to the report by 23ABC, Howell has worked in more than a dozen pornographic films. Her jump partner, Torres, has also worked in the porn industry and goes by the nickname Voodoo.
Torres even published the midair sex video on his blog, to gain publicity. The video has now been removed from YouTube and his blog and the FAA are investigating the matter.
The sensational video that went viral on the web showed them having sex inside the plane before they jumped out, continuing the act midair over California.
