Medical officials have identified the decomposed body of a small female found in Orlando woods as Alexandria Chery, the 16-year-old teen who went missing on July 28, the Orlando Sentinel reported Wednesday. Her family is starting to plan her funeral.
Her body was "preliminary" identified after authorities revealed a pink-stoned bellybutton ring, a T-shirt with the "@" symbol, and a weave were found near her body. Her family told investigators those were some of Alexandria's belongings. The teen’s uncle, Ray Joseph, posted a fundraiser on GoFundMe.com to raise money for the 16-year-old’s funeral at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family is asking for $7,500, and as of Wednesday afternoon $85 was raised.
“My name is Ray and im helping my sister planning her ONLY DAUGHTER funeral. And her step dad is the one responsible for HER death,” Joseph wrote, accusing Sanel Saint Simon for Alexandria’s death.
He continued: “But her older BROTHER have one wish is for her to get buried at the Woodlawn park cemetery and they say she cant be buried there because my sister did not have any insurance or any MONEY to pay for it. And shes also not financially stable. So please HELP me help my nephew WISH come TRUE. THANK you to you all.”
Saint Simon, 43, who was actually the mother’s live-in boyfriend, is the lead suspect in the case and currently being held on a $200,000 bond at Orange County Jail after he was determined to be a flight risk. He was arrested for obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence.
When Alexandria’s mother came home from work on July 28, she found her daughter’s room was in disarray, smelt of bleach, and there was blood splattered on the walls. When authorities arrived, they found a pair of Saint Simon’s underwear beneath her bed.
Molestation accusations have swirled after Joseph said Alexandria confessed she thought Saint Simon was “creepy” and said he touched her inappropriately, Hollywood Life wrote.
