Thursday, Allegiant Air, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Allegiant Travel Company (ALGT), reported a rise in its load factor and traffic for March.

For March, Total system traffic of Las Vegas, Nevada-based Allegiant increased 15.8% to 495.18 million revenue passenger miles or RPMs from 427.73 RPMs in the corresponding month of the previous year. Capacity increased 13% to 556.7 million available seat miles or ASMs from 492.62 million ASM in the comparable period a year ago.

Total system March load factor advanced 2.1 percentage points to 88.9% from 86.8% in the prior year period.

For the first quarter, total system traffic grew 9.8% to 1.17 billion RPMs from 1.06 billion RPMs in the year-ago quarter. Capacity increased 4.9% to 1.33 billion ASMs from 1.27 billion ASMs in the same period last year.

Quarterly total system load factor increased 4 percentage points to 87.6% from 83.6% in the corresponding period last year.

The company said, for scheduled service, March 2009 traffic advanced 19.1% to 468.6 million RPMs from 393.3 million RPMs in the comparable period last year. Capacity grew 17.3% to 507.8 million ASMs from 433 million ASMs in the year-ago period.

Scheduled service March Load factor increased 1.5 percentage points to 92.3% from 90.8% in the year-ago period.

The company said scheduled service quarterly traffic increased 13.3% to 1.10 billion RPMs from 973 million RPMs in the year-ago quarter. Capacity increased 8.5% to 1.21 billion ASMs from 1.12 billion ASMs in the prior year quarter.

Quarterly load factor for scheduled service increased 3.9 percentage points to 90.8% from 86.9% in the year-ago quarter.

ALGT is currently up $1.00 or 2.25% and trades at $45.40.
