Former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes was arrested for a DUI early Friday morning.

As TMZ first reported, the 26-year-old actress, who appeared to be drunk behind the wheel, was trying to pass a cop car, but ended up clipping the vehicle instead.

Bynes, who was arrested at 3 a.m. PST, was booked at the West Hollywood Sherrif's Station. A bail has been set at $5,000, according to her booking sheet obtained by TMZ.

The arrest on Friday comes nearly one month after the What I Like About You actress was pulled over in LA for talking on her cellphone. Things got even more out of hand when Bynes drove away while the officer was writing a ticket.

However, no one went after Bynes because officials saw no danger in the incident, and had already collected all her information. She later visited the police station to sign the ticket, TMZ reported at the time.

In recent years, it seems that Bynes' personal life has made more headlines than any professional work she's been a part of.

In 2010, Bynes shocked her fans by announcing that she was officially retiring from acting.

Being an actress isn't as fun as it may seem . . . if I don't love something anymore, I stop doing it. I don't love acting anymore, so I've stopped doing it, she wrote in June 2010.

One month later, Bynes retracted her statement.

I've unretired, she wrote on Twitter at the time.

I really just needed some time off . . . I've been acting since I was seven . . . so it's not retiring so much. It's just taking some time off, she told People in 2011.

But since her retiring fiasco, Bynes has failed to land any major movie or TV projects. Her last feature was Easy A in 2010, opposite Emma Stone (who has skyrocketed to become one of Hollywood's most sought after actresses).

Bynes' four seasons on What I Like About You, opposite Jennie Garth, wrapped some six years ago.

Maybe a fellow former teen actress can give Bynes a little advice.

Just last week, Lindsay Lohan faced Judge Stephanie Sautner for (hopefully) the last time, as the judge announced that the actress' formal probation had officially ended.

Lohan, 25, must now obey the law for the next two and a half years, or she'll face the judge again.

I know it's kinda hard when people are following you all over the place . . . but that's the life you choose, Sautner told Lohan in court.

Update: Bynes has since been released from jail in West Hollywood.
