The "Amazing Spider-Man" franchise is ramping up for two new installments.

Sony Pictures announced the release dates for the third and fourth films in the series on Monday. The films will hit theaters on June 10, 2016, and May 4, 2018, respectively, reports USAToday.com.

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is already in production in Brooklyn and Long Island, N.Y. The New York Daily News reports the film is expected to create up to 3,500 jobs as well provide 11,000 roles for extras.

Sony Pictures is thrilled to share the planned release dates so early, said Jeff Blake, chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution for Sony,

"Spider-Man is our most important, most successful, and most beloved franchise, so we're thrilled that we are in a position to lock in these prime release dates over the next five years," he said.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" was released last year, grossing a box office total topping $750 million worldwide.

Rumors have surrounded the storyline of the third film, including the possibility of an appearance of The Sinister Six, reports SlashFilm.com. The "Six" is a villain group consisting of the Lizard, Vulture, Electro, Rhino, and possibly the Green Goblin.

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will be released on May 2, 2014.
