Amazon Prime Sale For $73 To Celebrate 'Mozart In The Jungle' Golden Globe Wins

In celebration of Golden Globe award wins for its original series “Mozart in the Jungle,” Amazon is offering a hefty discount on its Amazon Prime subscription program. Starting Friday at 9 p.m. PST/12 a.m. EST, customers can nab a one-year subscription to Prime for $73 — a $26 discount off its regular price.

The price of $73 reflects the 73rd year that the Golden Globe awards have been celebrated. By subscribing to the program, Amazon shoppers gain access to unlimited two-day free shipping and a number of services such as streaming audio from Prime Music, access to tens of thousands of streaming movies and TV shows, free e-book loans via the Kindle lending library, and unlimited photo storage in Amazon’s Cloud Drive.

In addition, Amazon is also making the first and second season of “Mozart in the Jungle” available to all customers to stream for free through Sunday via its website. The Prime subscription sale will also be available for the same time period. “Mozart” took home two Golden Globe awards last weekend, one for Best Musical or Comedy series, the other for lead actor Gael García Bernal , named Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Series.

While Amazon gives tons of services through Prime subscriptions, it may also reap the benefits from its customers as well. Amazon Prime subscribers on average spend $1,500 per year on the site, more than double the $625 nonmembers spend, according to Consumer Intelligence Research Partners.
