Amazon announced the Kindle DX in early May and began accepting pre-orders which they should would be delivered sometime in the summer but now Amazon.com sites today on its website that the shipping date will be June 17.

Kindle DX, which retails for $489, has an internal storage for the device is 3.3GB giving enough room for 3,500 books.

DX has a 9.7-inch e-ink display that can display 16 shades of grey at a resolution of 1200 x 824. The DX is 1/3 of an inch thick and measure 10.4-inches x 7.2-inches x 0.38-inches.

Amazon also has an agreement in place with The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and The Washington Post that allows subscribers to get lower priced subscriptions to the newspapers for longer terms in exchange for a lower price on the Kindle DX.
