“American Horror Story: Hotel” is back! The FX miniseries has been on hiatus since mid-December, but is making its triumphant return Wednesday with episode 11, titled “Battle Royale.”
Viewers left off on a rather bloody note in episode 10. Liz Taylor (Denis O’Hare) and Iris (Kathy Bates) were going to commit suicide, but instead decided to turn their weapons on the people who hurt them most – the Countess (Lady Gaga) and Donovan (Matt Bomer). They busted into the Countess’ flat with guns blazing. However, “American Horror Story” viewers didn’t see the bodies.
And that wasn’t the only dramatic scene of episode 10. John (Wes Bentley) and Alex (Chloë Sevigny) left Hotel Cortez hand-in-hand with Holden (Lennon Henry) after locking up the group of “vampire children” in the closed off wing of the building. It seemed as if they were back on track to being a happy family, but Sally (Sarah Paulson) promised that it wouldn’t last.
“I swear on my soul I’m going to kill you,” she yelled as he walked through the doors.
Episode 11 is the final installment before the Season 5 finale. According to the synopsis, Ramona (Angela Bassett) will be back in action thanks to an “unlikely source.” Meanwhile, Scarlett will learn about her “family’s affliction” as Sally “uses her past to negotiate her future.”
The synopsis doesn’t mention Liz Taylor or Iris, but they are the only ones featured in the promo photos for “Battle Royale.” While the two teamed up to take down the Countess and Donovan, it doesn’t look like they’re enjoying being partners anymore.
