“American Horror Story: Coven” premieres Oct. 9. FX/American Horror Story

“American Horror Story” is still adding cast members for its third season, subtitled “Coven.” The latest to join the FX miniseries is Tony Award-winning actress Christine Ebersole.

“American Horror Story” co-creator Ryan Murphy announced Ebersole’s casting in an interview with Deadline.com. Fans will recognize the actress as Regina Rich from “Richie Rich,” as well as from roles on television series such as “Related,” “Royal Pains” and “Sullivan & Son.”

So, who will she be playing in “Coven?” Murphy explained to the site that she’ll be starring as a “Glenda the Good Witch-type of gal” in a recurring role.

And even though filming for the third season is currently under way in New Orleans, Murphy is surprisingly not finished casting: He told Deadline he’s only now getting ready to cast the big male lead in “Coven.” According to the co-creator of the spooky drama, fans will be meeting the new male lead in episode six, and he’ll be connected to Jessica Lange’s character -- more specifically a love interest for her witch!

“I’ve been meeting with actors for that. I don’t have any idea who that’s going to be,” Murphy dished. “[Lange] plays a real femme fatale. Last year she was always in nun’s outfits, and this year she’s almost always exclusively in head-to-toe Yves Saint Laurent. [He laughs.] I think people will love Jessica Lange playing that powerful, dark, sexy character.”

“Coven” stars “American Horror Story” veterans Lange, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Jamie Brewer, Denis O’Hare and Alexandra Breckenridge. Ebersole will be joining fellow newcomers Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Gabourey Sidibe, Emma Roberts and Patti LuPone.
