Ready for “Freak Show”? The title of the fourth season of “American Horror Story” has been confirmed and fans of the FX mini-series couldn’t be any more excited for the next haunting installment. But what else do we know besides the official title? We’ve compiled everything we know about the upcoming season, “American Horror Story: Freak Show.”

Title

Fan-made posters have been speculating that the fourth season would surround a circus or carnival, and they weren’t far off. “It doesn’t have a title, but that’s the idea,” “AHS” writer Douglas Petrie addressed the rumors in a Nerdist Writers Panel podcast last week. “Very roughly, that’s the idea.”

Ryan Murphy revealed the official title on March 24, tweeting the following message along with a teasing first photo:

Time Period And Location

Murphy confirmed to Entertainment Weekly in late January that Season 4 will be set in two time periods with the main focus being in the 1950s.

“It’s set in 1950,” he explained. “If you look historically what happened in the year 1950, there’s some more clues in that year. It’s a period piece. We try and do the opposite of what we’ve done before.”

The website announced on Monday that “Freak Show” will be set in Jupiter, Fla.

The Cast

According to Entertainment Weekly, Jessica Lange’s character, a “German ex-pat,” will be “managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S.” The performers in her freak show are said to be Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett and Frances Conroy. EW reports that Denis O’Hare and Emma Roberts are “also in talks to return.”

It’s unknown what kind of performers the actors will be playing, but Paulson dished to Vulture that she has been working on a “very special skill.”

“I’m not working on an accent, but I’m working on something,” Paulson said in reference to Lange’s German accent. “That’s all I can say.”

Will Lily Rabe Return?

Lily Rabe has been featured on “American Horror Story” since Season 1, but the 31-year-old blonde beauty may not be returning for Season 4. The actress is currently linked to an ABC pilot called “The Visitors.” Rabe will play Claire Bennigan on the drama, a child specialist with the FBI who is investigating “strange cases involving children and their imaginary friend ‘Drill.’”
