Will Jessica Lange be involved in a circus/ carnival story line in Season 4 of "American Horror Story"? Michele K. Short/FX

Dying for some “American Horror Story” Season 4 scoop? Well then you’re in luck. After a pretty brutal dry spell, an “AHS” writer has dished out a pretty huge spoiler for the upcoming season.

Since the final episodes of “American Horror Story: Coven,” fans of the FX series have been speculating about what haunting storyline Season 4 would cover. From “Balenciaga” to “The Red Scare,” viewers have been concocting crazy theories about the horrors ahead. But one main theory that has struck a chord with fans is the idea of a “circus” or “carnival.” And it might not be that far off.

In a Nerdist Writers Panel podcast, “American Horror Story” writer Douglas Petrie revealed the following regarding a “carnival” theme:

“It doesn’t have a title, but that’s the idea. Very roughly, that’s the idea.”

The ideas and rumors regarding a “circus”/“carnival” themed fourth season started after “AHS” co-creator Ryan Murphy leaked some clues. Murphy revealed that the upcoming season would be set in two time periods -- the main one being the 1950s. On top of that, he confirmed that series star Jessica Lange would be returning, and that Lange’s new character would be a “Marlene Dietrich figure.” For those unfamiliar with Marlene Dietrich, she was a legendary German actress/singer who became well known for cabaret.

Fans immediately began creating posters based off of the “circus”/“carnival” theory, but Murphy quickly shot down the rumors.

“I saw those posters,” the co-creator told Entertainment Weekly. “I don’t know where people came up with that idea. Sometimes I think its people wanting us to do topics and doing fan art. No one has completely guess what it is.”
